This year the renamed DRHA Conference - Digital Resources in the Humanities and Arts - is choosing to bring a new dimension into its standard range of digital projects and interests across the major disciplines of the humanities (archaeology, history, literature, languages, linguistics...) by offering an exceptional invitation to practitioners and scholars working with digital media across the creative, visual, performing and media arts (music, performance, dance, visual arts, gaming, media...).

CFP: Renewals - reconfiguring University English in the 21st Century

The Higher Education Academy English Subject Centre is planning its 2007  conference Renewals and currently inviting ideas. Deadline March 31st 2006. The conference takes place 5-7 July, 2007, in London.

The keynotes will be Alan Liu, Andrew Motion and Elaine Showalter. As an early web adopter and founder of Voice of the Shuttle and more recently Director of the Transliteracies project, Liu's work will be of special interest to WDL readers.

New Blog: Sporkworld the Community

Sporkworld.org is launching a new site, Sporkworld: The Community at www.sporkworld.org//index.php, to accompany the main Sporkworld site at www.sporkworld.org  Please come visit the site, add your comments to the articles, vote in the current poll (about poetry), and submit links for the links page.

The new site will feature articles, reviews, and commentary on the major themes addressed in the web works on Sporkworld.  There will also be regular contests and opportunities to participate in collaborative projects to be published on Sporkworld.  More interactive features will be added as the site matures.  For example news feeds and discussion fora are anticipated, if there is enough user interest.

Sporkworld: The Community eagerly seeks article submissions.

The focus of the special issue

This special edition of Convergence marks the tenth anniversary of the trAce Online Writing Centre, UK. To commemorate this landmark event, the guest editors are seeking to evaluate the state-of-the-art of new media writing(s).

This special edition will seek to re-assess the claims made for these forms over the last decade, to challenge the dominant ideologies and terminologies of this maturing field, and to provide a critical re-evaluation of new media writing(s) in all its forms.

We encourage discussion of the following:

    • The institutional settings of new media writing(s)
    • The relationship between academia and new media writing(s)
    • Re-assessments of the claims made for hypertext, new media or digital writing(s) over the past decade
    • Art policies and development strategies for new media writing(s)
    • The audience for new media writing(s)
    • The economics of new media writing(s)
    • Pedagogical approaches to new media writing(s)
    • The historical context of new media writing(s)
    • The relationship between new media writing(s) and other digital arts

    Teknokultura, on-line journal of the University of Puerto Rico's Social Sciences Faculty (Río Piedras Campus), announces its opening for contributions to evaluate articles and electronic art relevant to the integration of technology to daily lives and labor.
